Appleby donates to Star
A Bermudian-based law firm has donated Christmas gifts to families with loved ones affected by HIV through a charity’s holiday drive.
Appleby handed over food hampers, Christmas trees and an array of gifts to the Supportive Therapy for Aids Persons and their Relatives. The gifts, sparked by Star’s annual Christmas Donation Drive, were given to six families who support a sick relative.
A spokeswoman for Appleby said that the firm delivered fruit baskets, toys, clothing, store vouchers and toiletries to the families last Friday.
Appleby also set up Christmas trees in the homes.
Tim Faries, the managing partner for Appleby, said the gifts were handed over to a Star representative at the Appleby headquarters on Victoria Street.
He said: “This marks our 21st year working with Star during the holiday season and each year we hope that our continued support provides some additional holiday cheer.
“I would like to thank our staff and partners who generously donated and extend our very best holiday wishes to the families.”
Star was created to offer confidential counselling, as well as caregivers who visit homes, hospices and the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, to those with HIV-related problems.
The charity also operates the Lighthouse residential centre in Smiths, which provides a “family environment” for men, women and children.
