Bermuda Championship retains place on reduced PGA Tour autumn schedule
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship has retained its position on the PGA Tour schedule despite a number of changes to the autumn programme.
A tentative schedule, published by the Golf Channel website suggests a streamlined fall swing with seven tournaments, down from nine last year.
However, despite the omission of the CJ Cup, which has been played in the United States the last three years, and the Houston Open, a Tour staple since 1946, the fifth instalment of Bermuda’s event is set to be staged at Port Royal Golf Course from November 9 to 12.
It remains to be seen if the two removed events will shift to the FedExCup portion of the schedule or if they will be omitted from the Tour line-up entirely.
The Fortinet Championship is set to kick off the PGA tour’s autumn schedule from September 14 to 17 and will be followed by the The Sanderson Farms Championship (October 5-8), the Shriners Children’s Open (October 12-15) and the Zozo Championship (October 19-22) in Japan.
The World Wide Technology Championship is due to take place from November 2 to 5, the week before the event in Bermuda, before the schedule concludes with The RSM Classic from November 16 to19.
