Goals from Cameron Neal and Samori Greenidge-Saltus either side of the interval powered St George’s Colts to an impressive win over soon-to-be-dethroned champions Dandy Town in the Premier Division at Goose Gosling Field last night.

Neal earned the visiting side the lead during the opening stanza before Greenidge-Saltus’s stunning effort put the game further beyond Town’s reach after the break.

The result took St George’s top on goal difference from North Village, who have a game in hand, with Town floundering in fifth place, ten points off the pace.

“A brilliant win, especially after dropping points against Hamilton Parish in our previous outing,” Jarreau Hayward, the St George’s coach, said.

“Town is an amazing team. They are the present champions, so it’s good to bounce back. Glad to get two goals and a shutout but the win is the most important thing.”

St George’s were slow getting out of the blocks but eventually hit their straps to come away with the desired outcome as Town paid the price for some loose defending.

“We knew they were going to come so we didn’t mind absorbing pressure for a little bit,” Hayward added.

“We had a couple of people playing out of positions. We had a little experimentation and it worked out today.

“We were fine absorbing their energy. We knew they were going to come after a loss and we are away from home and the main thing was to get three points so a successful game plan altogether.”

St George’s victory came at a cost, as Neal limped off hurt late in the second half.

Town dominated the early proceedings with St George's goalkeeper Jahquil Hill making three saves while striker Cecoy Robinson dragged wide after getting in behind.

After withstanding the onslaught, St George’s took the lead for good somewhat against the run of play when Town momentarily switched off.

Neal exchanged passes down the left side with Blaiz Hall before side-footing inside of Daniel Johnson from close range just before the interval.

Greenidge-Saltus then made the points safe with an exquisite, left-footed shot into the far top corner, which gave Johnson absolutely no chance.
