See yourself as a TV presenter?
The hunt is on for hosts for three programmes on the soon-to-air Government information TV channel.
A hint at the kind of show the station is likely to offer is provided in an advertisement for part-time positions in The Royal Gazette lodged by the Department of Communication and Information.
The presenter for one programme is expected to have an interest in health, medical or social issues affecting the Island, while fitting into the mature age bracket.
A second show will be fronted by a younger character, aged between 25 and 35. Suggesting a lighter kind of material, Government is looking for someone witty with a good knowledge of local events, entertainment and trends.
The third host appears to be for a current affairs programme, with the ideal candidate being a natural conversationalist or interviewer who is socially aware, well read and articulate.
Government has released few details about the channel but, according to the advert, the three new programmes are “about to hit the airways”.
DCI would not reveal information on when the channel would be up and running, how many hours of programming a day can be expected and the likely line-up of shows.
A spokeswoman said: “I anticipate being able to reveal details of the upcoming Government television station shortly. We are fine-tuning in a number of areas and it would be pre-emptive to comment on an unfinished product.”
Former ZBM TV news anchorman Gary Moreno has previously been linked with a possible move to the station. However, Mr. Moreno took up a position with the DCI after leaving ZBM earlier this summer.
The speculation led to Bermuda Broadcasting Company chief Rick Richardson to warn the arrival of the new channel — offering comparatively high salaries — could drain the Island’s limited pool of broadcasting professionals.
The Government channel is slated for television providers WOW and CableVision, both on channel two.
