Footballers in line to receive awards
Bermuda’s finest footballers are to be recognised for their outstanding contributions during the 2006-07 season at an annual awards ceremony.
The sixth edition of the Bermuda FA awards ceremony will be held tomorrow at the North Field Pavilion at the National Sports Centre.
Awards will be presented to the male and female player of the year, outstanding coach of the year, referee of the year, most improved referee of the year, young male and female player of the year, leading goalscorer, best defender, best goalkeeper and to the male and female fair play teams.
Women’s MVP of the year — Terrylyn Paynter (Prospect United), Georginia Davis (St George Lady Colts) Arkeita Smith (Devonshire Lady Cougars)
Men’s defensive player of the year — Sean Simmons (Somerset Trojans), Darius Cox (Devonshire Cougars), Robert Wilson (North Village Rams)
Women’s defensive player of the year — Georgina Davis (St George Lady Colts), Ieasha Dill (Dandy Stars), Lindsey Founds (NVCC Lady Rams)
Men’s goalkeeper of the year — Timmy Figuerido (Somerset Trojans), Dyke Lawrence (Devonshire Colts), Ricardo Brangman (Devonshire Cougars)
Women’s goalkeeper of the year — Rhoda Jones (Prospect United), Christine Jones (Dandy Stars), Joanna Holburn (NVCC Lady Rams)
Men’s young player of the year — Korvon Tucker (Devonshire Cougars), Shayne Hollis (North Village Rams), Ryan Purnell (Devonshire Colts)
Women’s young player of the year — Shabena Crockwell (Devonshire Lady Cougars), Dominique Richardson (St George Lady Colts), Jenay Edness (Dandy Stars)
Men’s coach of the year — Shawn Smith (Devonshire Cougars), Ray Jones (Devonshire Colts), Brian Anderson (Southampton Rangers)
Women’s coach of the year — Don Lewis (Dandy Stars), Jeremy Salaam (NVCC Lady Rams) Paulos (Devonshire Lady Cougars)
Drinks and refreshments will be served at 7pm with the ceremony starting at 7.30pm.
