Teams look forward to round two
Paul Scope is confident his team can reverse last night's 1-0 loss to Harrisburg City Islanders at the National Sports Centre tomorrow.
The local USL Division Two expansion team weathered enormous pressure at the back and were able to create a few scoring opportunities themselves.
But in terms of proficiency in front of goal, the Hogges fell woefully short of their objective.
Still, team boss Scope reckons his troops would have gained valuable experience from last night's match against the visitors from Pennsylvania.
"I think we can learn from this," he said.
Scope thinks playing Harrisburg twice within a short span could work in his team's favour come tomorrow.
"I think that this is a nice coincidence that we have to play against the same team twice because now we know exactly what to expect from them. And I think we can achieve a good result against them on Sunday," he said.
"I think we have a really good chance against them and I'm also expecting a better all round performance from our guys."
Suspended duo Shaki Crockwell and Clevon Hill, two players that know their way around the box, will be eligible to play in tomorrow's match. And their presence just might give the Hogges the kind of lift needed to secure victory in front of the home crowd.
"We've got a couple of fresh players coming back who I think will help our cause, and I really think we have great chance to redeem ourselves if we play as I know we can," Scope said.
Islanders' coach Bill Becher, meanwhile, is bracing himself for another closely-fought contest on the plush 'carpet'.
"I think both teams will play better on Sunday. We felt each other out a bit tonight and I think you will see a better game on Sunday," he insisted.
And like opposite number Scope, Becher also hopes to see improvement among the ranks.
"Hopefully we won't turn the ball over so easily," he said, adding: "I thought our last pass wasn't good enough (in last night's match), while our finishing needs work."
