Police inspector moves to Canada
A former Bermudian Police inspector has left the Island to become a city cop in Canada.
Robin Sherwood was sworn in as a regional Police constable in Halifax, Nova Scotia after 20 years with the Bermuda Police Service.
Mr. Sherwood’s duties here as a detective inspector ranged from patrol to criminal investigations and the narcotics department. For the last 18 months he served as a watch commander. He told The Chronicle Herald newspaper that moving away from the Island was a difficult decision “but the right one”.
“I guess policing is the same all over,” he said. “I’m quite comfortable fitting in Halifax and being a police constable and I’m quite happy with that. And I sort of look forward to — personally and professionally — the challenges that I will have here. I think the role is as important as rank and everyone has a part to play.”
Mr. Sherwood’s wife was born in New Brunswick and the couple have three children. “She was looking to move back towards Canada and I was looking to continue my policing career,” he told the newspaper.
“We were both attracted to Halifax and Nova Scotia for different reasons. Obviously, we both think Nova Scotia is a great place to raise a family and live.”
