XL among Grand Slam sponsors
Bermuda company XL Capital Ltd yesterday confirmed they would be among the broadcast sponsors for this year’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which will make its debut in Bermuda on October 16 and 17 at the Mid Ocean Club.
Only the winners of golf’s four major championships receive an automatic invitation to the prestigious annual event — this month’s Masters champion Zach Johnson having already booked his ticket.
XL said yesterday their sponsorship package would include “graphic and audio exposure, as well as customised branded content” during TNT’s coverage of the two-day event.
The company would also receive “branded presence in a series of Turner Sports-produced congratulatory spots to air on Turner’s sister network, CNN, following each of the remaining major championships, along with rotation during TNT’s coverage of the British Open Championships, PGA Championships and President’s Cup.”
XL President and Chief Executive Officer Brian M. O’Hara said: “I am pleased that XL will be associated with this high calibre, golf championship event. We view this as a natural fit as golf is the insurance industry’s preferred sport. The event will be televised in our most important target markets and so we consider this an opportunity to increase awareness of XL’s global insurance, reinsurance, and financial product capabilities.”
