Risk and insurance service firm Marsh has established a Renewable Energy Team.

The team will work closely with the firm's Global Marine and Energy Practice and the Power and Utilities Industry Practice to help clients address and find upside in the wide range of risks they face in this technologically diverse and dynamic sector.

It will be headed by Susan Stokes and Tom Sexton who will work to build on the firm's already considerable expertise in renewable energy.

During the past decade Marsh, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has been assessing risk issues and providing related solutions for clients involved in onshore and offshore wind projects, ethanol and biodiesel plants, solar energy projects, hydro-electric power generation, wave, tidal and other renewable energy operations.

"Businesses and governments have sharpened their focus on renewable energy, particularly as the energy industry responds to the global emphasis on developing new technologies that lower carbon emissions," said Ms Stokes.
