St. George's Foundation leave time capsule at Jamestown

The St. George's Foundation left its mark on the future in a visit to historic Jamestown last weekend.

Twenty-six representatives took part in the 400th Anniversary Weekend celebrations to commemorate the Virginia settlement.

The group was led by St. George's Mayor, Mariea Caisey, and Foundation chairman, Henry Hayward.

Mayor Caisey placed a Friendship Cup of Bermuda cedar in the Commemoration Time Capsule, containing the 2001 commemorative coin marking the acceptance of St. George's and its fortifications as a World Heritage Site.

The design is based on Captain John Smith's 1624 drawing of the State House.

The Time Capsule will be reopened in 50 years' time.
