Entertainment is a top priority at Henry's

No night at Henry’s is complete without the fun and fanciful stylings of an entertainer tickling the ivories.

Entering his tenth season at the South Shore hotspot, Dave Bootle has been wowing local audiences for 16 years.

“We bill him as a humorist,” said John Ferris, Henry VIII’s managing director.

“Yes, a humorist,” Mr. Bootle himself added.

“A comedian is someone who is funny, but I’m a humorist - someone who looks funny.”

His comment brought roars of laughter from the table, typical of his nightly routine.

However, while he is funny, Mr. Bootle credits his popularity with his ability to play all night without a break and a repertoire of around 500 songs at any given time, which includes favourites from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, as well as current hits.

“You can come in for dinner, and get a great dinner, and listen all night,” Mr. Bootle said.

“It’s a great night out,” Mr. Ferris continued.

In addition to Mr. Bootle’s fun at the piano, local artist Duke Joell serves as a strolling minstrel to diners several evenings a week.

“He works the tables during meals,” explained Mr. Ferris, sharing diners with a great variety of Calypso, love songs and island favourites.

“He’s really good with families.”

Dave Bootle performs Wednesday through Sunday from 9.30 p.m. to 1 a.m., while Duke Joell can be heard on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings during dinner.
