Police appeal for witnesses after Southampton crash

Police today continued to investigate a serious four-vehicle crash on Middle Road in Southampton that injured an 18-year-old motorbike rider on Friday.

A mobile police patrol came upon the crash, which involved two cars and two motorcycles, at 3.37pm near the junction with Homestead Lane.

The rider was heading west on the main road when he tried to overtake a line of traffic and struck another westbound motorbike, which was also overtaking.

The teenager hit a car and was then thrown into the path of another car, travelling in the opposite direction.

He sustained non life-threatening injuries including lacerations to the face and a broken arm.

EMTs attended and took the injured man to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, where at last check he remained under observation.

No other injuries were reported.

Traffic was delayed while officers directed vehicles on to the Railway Trail.

The Bermuda Police Service said: “We wish to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while officers worked to have the roadway cleared.”
