St. John's hosts Coral Beach Club gathering
St. John's University's School of Risk Management (SRM), a division of The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, will host its fifth annual "Gathering of Friends, Educators and Students" today at the Coral Beach and Tennis Club.
The event was made possible through the generosity of Joseph Smetana, alumnus of The College of Insurance. Invited to the dinner are industry and government leaders, key alumni in Bermuda, guidance counsellors and current and prospective students and their parents.
"We have close and long-standing partnerships within the corporate, education and government communities in Bermuda," said Dr. Ellen Thrower, executive director, SRM, and former president of The College of Insurance.
"This annual event provides us with the opportunity to thank our friends and supporters for their generosity over the years and to welcome our newest Bermudian students who are coming to St. John's in the fall."
Guests attending this year's event will include Dr. Duranda Greene, president of Bermuda College and Dr. Larita Alford, the College's vice-president and chief academic officer. Also attending from St. John's University will be Dr. Thrower, Mr. Albert J. Beer, the Michael J. Kevany/XL Visiting Professor in Insurance and Actuarial Science Practice and other members of the SRM team.
