Two new street signs warn dirt bike racers to slow down at the junction of Loyal Hill Road and the Railway Trail in Devonshire.

In an effort to address the problem, two traffic signs urging drivers to slow down have been unveiled and Loyal Hill resident Shirley Richardson said she hopes this will slow the flow of traffic.

Ms. Richardson said: "So many people have moved into the area so there is a lot more traffic and persons using the railway trail for walking and jogging.

"We have kids racing up and down on dirt bikes and people have to jump out of the way. Hopefully these signs will make them conscious of that fact."

Minister of Works and Engineering Dennis Lister, Patrice Minors and Ms. Richardson, yesterday, revealed the two traffic signs on either side of the intersection and the road markings.

Afterwards, Ms. Minors applauded the improvements by Mr. Lister, who, she said, heeded her concerns and has also worked hard at Vesey Street resolving the draining problem.

She said: "Through the canvassing I have been doing I heard concerns about the road works and the racing. It's a railway trail and not just for equestrian and normal bikers.

"There is also car traffic, so the junction needs to be more formalised. I commend the Ministry for their work at Vesey Street on the Western side where they have fixed the draining problem."
