A trip to Disney World could still be on the cards for a man found guilty of possessing ecstasy.

Aaron Craig Smith was initially charged with possessing four MDMA pills on January 13 with the intent to supply the drug.

But the 25-year-old told the court he was not a drug dealer and would have taken all the pills that weekend if he hadn’t been arrested.

The pills were worth $300 and Crown counsel Graveney Bannister decided to amend the charge to simple possession after listening to the man, who is from Whaling Hill, Smith’s.

“I haven’t touched a pill since that night I was arrested,” he told the court. “I am sorry for what I did and I am quite thankful they were taken from me.

“I don’t want to be put on the stop list because I plan to take my daughter to Disney World.”

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said that in light of the small amount of drugs and his early guilty plea he would give him a conditional discharge.

Smith will have to pass random drug tests, visit a parole officer when requested and obey all of the Island’s laws for 12 months if he wants to ensure his criminal record remains clean, which means he can travel to the US.

If he does not he will be brought before the courts again and sentenced for the drug offence and banned from entering the US.
