The MarketPlace is rolling out electronic price tags for products on the shelf, beginning with the Harrington Hundreds store.

The grocery retailer said the tags represent “a significant step forward in The MarketPlace's commitment to enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency”.

The company said the technology allows for real-time price updates across all products, ensuring unparalleled pricing accuracy and consistency.

Seth Stutzman, president of The MarketPlace, said: “We're thrilled to introduce this cutting-edge technology to Bermuda. These electronic shelf tags are more than just a modern convenience — they're a testament to our commitment to innovation and customer service. By starting with Harrington Hundreds, we're honouring its legacy while propelling it into the future of retail.”

Mr Stutzman noted: “In today's economic climate, we understand the importance of competitive pricing. These electronic tags allow us to adjust prices quickly and efficiently, ensuring that we can pass savings on to our customers as soon as possible. We're working every day to keep prices down, and this technology is another tool in our tool belt.”

The MarketPlace acquired Harrington Hundreds in 2022, making a commitment to preserve the store's unique character.

Mr Stutzman said: “We're proud that we've been able to enhance Harrington Hundreds whilst keeping the essence of what makes it so special.

“We’ve been so fortunate to have retained staff members and maintained all our store services. Our goal has always been to build upon the strong foundation that the Aguiar family established, adding new technologies, efficiencies and products while respecting the store's community heritage."

The broader rollout across other MarketPlace locations in Bermuda will occur in due course.
