The island’s rich tourism product was aired to a global audience by US network ABC this week.

During a travel spotlight segment of the network’s Good Morning Washington show, hosts Kidd O’Shea and Britt Waters delved into multiple features offered by the island to tourists.

“It’s absolutely gorgeous here,” Mr O’Shea said. Ms Waters noted that travelling to the island from the US “is super quick”.

It was the pair’s second time hosting a travel segment from Bermuda, and the live segment was sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

During a chat with Jamari Douglas, the vice-president of marketing, public relations and communications at the BTA, viewers heard briefly about the island’s history, its traditional foods and ease of travel to and from the US.

Mr Douglas said: “In Bermuda we appreciate what we have. We love the beauty, we take care of our island and it’s just a pride that we have.”

Traditional fish sandwiches, Gosling’s dark and stormy beverages and the iconic rum swizzle were among the food and beverages highlighted by Mr Douglas to the audience.

Mr O’Shea said he was impressed by the island’s rich cuisine.

Mr Douglas added: “We have local fish, and that’s what makes Bermuda different.

“There is a wide range of food and deliciousness; there is a vegan scene as well.”

Mr Douglas spoke of Bermuda’s history as he told of the Sea Venture’s voyage when it became shipwrecked on the island in 1609.

Mr O’Shea told viewers that they can travel from the US at about 10am and, in under two hours, could be on a beach.

Mr Douglas said multiple US carriers and island airline BermudAir offer choices of air travel.

He added: “There is no excuse for you not to come to Bermuda.

“There are three flights that happen on a regular and a daily basis out of DCA [Ronald Reagan International Airport].”

During the show, Ms Waters displayed a ring designed by Bermuda jewellery Davidrose Studio.

Music superstar Beyoncé Knowles was spotted wearing a similar ring crafted by the jeweller in an Instagram post last October.
