A scam circulating on social media has falsely used the name and image of Diallo Rabain, the Minister of the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, in an attempt to defraud residents.

The ministry said the post, which mimics legitimate news sources, claims that more than 10,000 residents have made gains from a nonexistent “NetherexPro Investment Programme” promising guaranteed weekly incomes with minimal investment.

A spokesman added: “Unfortunately, fraudsters are increasingly using artificial intelligence and other tools to generate convincing fake articles, videos and images that misuse the likeness of public officials to lure victims.”

He reminded residents to use “extreme caution online”, including authenticating any purported offer and never relying on unverified websites or social-media posts.

Government officials never use social media or unofficial websites to promote financial schemes, and only details from verified government channels can be trusted.

The spokesman added: “If you see or receive such fake posts, report them directly to the platform administrators and do not engage.

“The Government continues to monitor such fraudulent activity and will take all necessary actions to protect the public. Residents are encouraged to visit www.gov.bm for official updates and information.”
