Sonia Baxendale leaves Butterfield board

Sonia Baxendale has left the board of The Bank of N.T Butterfield & Son Limited after not standing for re-election Thursday at the Bank’s Annual Meeting, according to a bank filing with the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

The CEO of the Global Risk Institute, Ms Baxendale joined the board as an independent director in November 2020.

The Institute is a think tank and consultancy that provides thought leadership and actionable insights on emerging risks within the global financial services industry.

She has extensive retail banking and wealth management leadership experience, having held senior leadership roles within the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

For six years, she was senior executive vice-president and president of retail banking and wealth management with responsibility for 28,000 employees serving 11 million clients in Canada, as well as investment management and business banking services for clients in the Caribbean, China and Singapore.
