Cricket legend gives powerful message to seniors
Cricket great Curtly Ambrose was a surprise guest speaker at an event organised to help seniors understand their electricity bills.
Mr Ambrose, a fast bowler who played for West Indies between 1988 and 2000, was a guest at the Power Up/Power Down information session, which was hosted by electricity provider Belco and part-sponsored by the Bermuda Cricket Board.
The meeting, held at the St Paul AME Church hall on Monday, provided an opportunity for seniors to learn about Belco’s online billing and energy usage tracking platform, allowing them to manage their accounts and monitor their consumption more effectively.
Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, praised Belco’s commitment to community engagement.
She said: “Ensuring that all members of our community, especially seniors, have the tools and knowledge to navigate modern digital services is essential. Belco’s dedication to supporting our seniors in understanding and managing their energy usage reflects their leadership and care.”
