Bacardi unveils new lobby
Bacardi Ltd has revealed its newly transformed lobby at the company’s global headquarters in Hamilton, celebrating 163 years of craftsmanship, heritage and innovation.
The dramatic redesign, the company said, marked the final phase of a multiyear interior renovation of the iconic glass-enclosed building on Pitts Bay Road, which had been home to the world’s largest privately held spirits company since 1972.
At the centre of the new space is a 40-foot-long by 20-foot-high illuminated installation showcasing Bacardi’s best-known global brands. The structure is visible through the glass façade and was “intentionally designed to capture attention and reflect the global presence of the company from the moment one approaches the headquarters”.
The lobby also features vintage Bacardi bottles and a hand-woven demijohn from the 1950s, connecting past and present. “This transformation builds on that legacy — creating a space that reflects who we are today while honouring where it all began,” said Douglas Mello, the managing director of Bacardi.
“We look forward to welcoming guests from around the world and sharing the Bacardi story — one rooted in family, heritage and innovation.”
Planning Factory Bermuda led the project, with architectural support from Botelho Wood Architects and construction by D&J Construction. The renovation includes high-end finishes such as porcelain and the founder’s signature etched into the lobby walls.
The headquarters, inspired by a never-built design by Mies van der Rohe, the Bauhaus legend, stood as a tribute to Bacardi’s resilience and deep ties to Bermuda’s business and design community, said the company.
