Aspen names Ryan Cushway to lead international and UK casualty
Aspen Insurance Holdings has appointed Ryan Cushway as head of international and UK casualty insurance, a newly-created role designed to streamline leadership and strengthen the company’s global casualty operations.
Mr Cushway, who joined Aspen in 2017, officially stepped into the role on August 1. He has held several senior underwriting positions during his tenure, most recently leading the UK casualty portfolio since January 2023. In that role, he was credited with delivering strong results for Aspen’s clients and broker partners.
The role consolidates Aspen’s British-based entities under a single casualty leadership. As part of the restructure, Leanne Bellows has been appointed head of excess casualty, London and Lloyd’s markets, and will report to Mr Cushway.
“This new structure marks an exciting step in aligning our leadership with the evolving needs of our business and clients,” said Dan Osman, active underwriter of Syndicate 4711 and chief underwriting officer at Aspen Insurance UK. “I’m thrilled to welcome Ryan and Leanne into their new roles and look forward to the impact they’ll continue to make.”
Additionally, Richard Spinks and the international environmental team will now report to Mr Cushway, alongside the UK casualty team. The changes are expected to strengthen coordination and client service across multiple casualty lines, the company stated.
