Latest figures show inflation to March at 1.9%
Consumers paid 1.9 per cent more in March 2025 than a year ago for a basket of goods and services, according to the latest consumer price index figures from the Department of Statistics.
However, this level of inflation was unchanged from the previous month.
Annually, the cost of food was 2 per cent more, fuel and power was 2.7 per cent more and clothing saw an increase of 2 per cent.
Health and personal care experienced the biggest increase of 3 per cent, while rent and foreign travel were up by 2.30 per cent.
The education, recreation, entertainment and reading division grew by 1.2 per cent.
Tobacco and liquor saw only a modest gain of 0.2 per cent, and household goods and services increased by 0.4 per cent.
Transport and foreign travel increased 0.5 per cent from month to month, while education, recreation, entertainment and reading rose by 0.20 per cent.
Clothing was unchanged from February, and rent and food only went up by 0.1 per cent.
