Tropical Storm causes cruise to reroute from Bermuda
A cruise ship has switched course from Bermuda to the US as Tropical Storm Erin, forecast to build into a major hurricane, continues to head west across the tropical Atlantic.
Alisha dos Santos, for Come Cruise with Me, reported that Royal Caribbean International had notified passengers aboard Vision of the Seas that the ship, which was set to be in Bermuda this weekend, would reroute to Florida on its way to the Bahamas.
The Bermuda cruise ship schedule listed the vessel, which left Baltimore, Maryland today, as cancelled.
The Bermuda Weather Service reported that, as of midday, Tropical Storm Erin was almost 1,448 miles southeast of Bermuda, with maximum winds of 57mph. It was not ranked as a threat to the island.
The storm is expected to reach 741 miles south of the island by midday on Sunday.
The Royal Gazette has reached out to the Bermuda Tourism Authority for comment.
