Royal Gazette announces price increase to $3

An increase in the price of The Royal Gazette has been attributed to rising costs and inflation.

On September 2, customers will see the charge for a printed edition of the newspaper change to $3 from $2.50.

Jonathan Howes, the chief executive of Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd, said that the company tried to keep the price of the newspaper as it is, but the jump was a result of “continued increases in the cost of raw materials and shipping, combined with inflation on the island”.

He added: “This change ensures we can continue to deliver quality journalism, ensuring the integrity and independence of our reporting, which our readers rely on to stay connected to the Bermuda community.

The Royal Gazette continues to be Bermuda’s most trusted independent source of news and we appreciate the continued support of our loyal readership during this necessary price adjustment.”

Mr Howes said that the publication remained committed to maintaining the highest editorial standards.

He highlighted that the increase applied only to physical newspapers sold in shops and delivered to homes and businesses, not to online editions.

Mr Howes thanked readers for continuing to support Bermuda’s only daily newspaper.
