Man gets road ban for speeding, unlicensed cycle

A man who drove at more than double the legal speed limit in Hamilton Parish has been banned from driving for nine months.

Zhiyah Wolffe-Simpson, 27, admitted speeding at 79km/h, as well as riding an unlicensed cycle, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Magistrate Craig Attridge fined Wolffe-Simpson $490 for speeding and $350 for the unlicensed cycle — both offences occurred on January 25 — and added seven points to his licence.

Wolffe-Simpson, from Devonshire, had 11 existing demerit points before his appearance yesterday and was banned from the roads based on points accumulation.
