Cup Match cricketer fined for disqualified driving

A Somerset Cup Match and former Bermuda cricketer was fined $1,000 in Magistrates’ Court for disqualified driving.

Malachi Jones, 36, admitted the offence when he appeared in court yesterday.

The court heard that police stopped Jones, from Sandys, at the junction of Middle Road and Tamarind Vale on August 25.

Jones was disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months in December after he admitted not taking a breath test.

Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered Jones to pay the $1,000 fine by September 29, but did not extend his disqualification period.
