Septic waste may cause unpleasant smells near the Marsh Folly composting facility in Pembroke, but poses no hazard to health.

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment began its biannual septage disposal operations today, a statement said.

Waste from the Tynes Bay septage facility must be taken to Marsh Folly for disposal every six months.

The statement said: “While the odour may be noticeable, there is no risk to public health.

“All Ministry of Public Works and Environment waste facilities follow strict best-practice procedures and undergo annual inspections to ensure the safety of both residents and the environment.

“The ministry thanks the public for their understanding and co-operation as these necessary operations are conducted.”
