The Registry General, which holds sole responsibility for determining whether charities meet their necessary qualifications, has highlighted its online directory for agencies to meet obligations.

Guidance documents available through the government website include pointers on anti-money laundering and antiterrorist financing regulations, as well as the definition of public benefit and the implementation of a vulnerable persons policy.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors said that guidance was being updated, adding that charities would be notified once the rules were published.

The Registry General’s Office oversees the approval and monitoring of the island’s charities in Bermuda, and holds responsibility for determining whether an entity is or is not a charity.
