Events to spotlight local artists lined up for October
Culture and creativity are in focus this month thanks to the third annual Art Month run by the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
A BTA spokeswoman said that October will feature a variety of events and experiences aimed at strengthening links between visitors and Bermuda’s artists and performers.
Erin Wright, the authority’s acting chief executive, said: “Art Month shines a spotlight on the incredible talent of our artists and storytellers.
“It celebrates art, culture and creativity while contributing to Bermuda’s tourism strategy by attracting visitors seeking authentic, year-round cultural experiences.”
This year’s Art Month will feature events including workshops on Bermuda’s beaches, sip-and-paint sessions in caves, tours of local galleries and panel discussions.
Some highlights include the Art of Music with the Bermuda Philharmonic at Masterworks on October 16, the return of the Bermuda Gombey Festival on October 18, a 5K Run for the Arts on October 26, the launch of Charles Zuill’s new book, Portals to Another Dimension, and talks with artists including Jahbarri Wilson, Graham Foster and John Gardner.
A BTA spokeswoman said: “Since its inception, Art Month has provided opportunities to connect local artists to new audiences and for visitors to engage directly with Bermuda’s culture.
“By strengthening ties between the arts sector and the visitor economy, the initiative reflects the BTA’s commitment to developing tourism that is sustainable, community-focused and culturally enriching.”
