Dripbar celebrates anniversary with free shots
To celebrate a year in business, the owners of intravenous vitamin infusion business The Dripbar are offering free shots throughout Black Friday — B-12 shots, that is.
The Dripbar offers full-body red light, lymphatic massage, arm, leg and hip compression, intramuscular booster shots and intravenous vitamin infusions in a dedicated drip lounge.
Since opening, Jennifer Burland Adams and Claire McDevitt have seen more than 425 clients, with many coming back multiple times or becoming members.
“That means they come for one or two drips per month, depending on their membership level,” Ms Burland Adams said.
They credit part of their success to taking part in the Ignite business accelerator programme.
“Claire and I both went through the Ignite programme to build separate businesses and then again to work on expanding our genetic and epigenetic test kits into a full wellness centre,” Ms Burland Adams said. “We have been working on this venture for about three years.”
She said because they have had success separately and together, they know their strengths and how to work together.
The wellness industry is also one of the fastest growing, with $6.9 trillion in sales in 2023 and projections of $9 trillion for 2028.
“People are more concerned about their health,” she said. “Technology makes it easier to track and gather data.”
Ms Burland Adams said advances in genetic testing mean people are looking beyond a multivitamin and basic gym membership to bespoke wellness programmes.
As a measure of their success, the Hamilton business recently moved from a tiny room at the yoga and wellness centre Treehouse, on Trott Road, to a space ten times as big at 26 Victoria Street.
“Moving allowed us to expand our offerings and create a welcoming, relaxing environment for our infusions,” Ms McDevitt said. “We now have a reception and waiting area with wellness merchandise for between visits.”
They hope to add aesthetics through a partnership with another local nurse-led business and look forward to continuing to bring innovations in health and longevity to Bermuda.
They will start offering peptides — building blocks of proteins that act as messengers in the body, triggering cellular function. Natural peptide production decreases with age.
“Most people have at least heard of the peptide collagen and perhaps put a powdered form in their coffee,” Ms Burland Adams said. “So many of our cellular functions can be improved with peptides. You can boost your body’s natural fat-burning capability, take peptides to aid in recovery from muscle injury and joint surgery, or help to lift brain fog and increase focus and clarity.”
Lead nurse Ms McDevitt attributed their success and rapid growth to their client approach.
“We start with listening and asking questions,” Ms McDevitt said.
If a client reports having low energy, staff can drill down to the root cause before recommending a treatment.
“Once we know that, we can put together a programme made up of intravenous, intramuscular injections, red light — whatever makes the most sense to get them back to feeling great and then we can help them maintain with a membership,” Ms McDevitt said.
The partners started Fit to Fly during the Covid-19 pandemic offering certified antigen testing on Zoom, then introduced saliva-based DNA and epigenetic test kits in an online store.
“The Dripbar was our first foray into a bricks-and-mortar store,” Ms Burland Adams said.
• On Black Friday, from 5pm to 7.30pm, the public are invited to a free party with drinks, nibbles and music at The Dripbar office
