Friendship Trophy holders Dandy Town will face Devonshire Cougars in the semi-final of the competition at Somerset Cricket Club on Boxing Day (2pm).

The Premier Division rivals were pitted against each other at the draw held at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence.

Jarreau Hayward, the Town coach, is looking forward to the cup tie.

“Every game is difficult in this league and Devonshire Cougars is no different, so we will have to be at our best from now until the final whistle blows,” he told The Royal Gazette.

“They like to keep the ball, which I rate highly. We are looking forward to the challenge and we'll see what happens.”

Cougars Coach Mark Mills said: “Dandy Town is an experienced side. Looking forward to a good game of football and may the best team win.”

The remaining Friendship Trophy semi-final features North Village locking horns with Devonshire Colts at PHC Field on Saturday (9pm).

Village coach “Cal Patches Dill” said his players will have to be at their absolute best if they are to come away with the desired result.

“We as a team have to go and put work in at training and give 110 per cent come game time,” he added. “Always stay humble and the rewards that are meant for you will be given.

“It's a good draw no matter who we got as all the teams in the draw are good teams.”

Colts coach Ray Jones predicts a tough battle in yet another cup tie between the teams.

“We can’t seem to avoid Village in cup competitions and I think this sets up another good match on paper,” he said.

“Village have turned their season around and are probably the in-form team at the moment. We will get two training sessions in to prepare and look forward to a tough match.”

The draw for the First Division Shield was also held. Somerset Eagles will play Wolves at Somerset Cricket Club on Boxing Day (noon), while Somerset Trojans will do battle with fellow promotion contenders Robin Hood at PHC Field on Saturday (7pm).

The final for both competitions will take place at Wellington Oval on New Year’s Day.
