Police warn of crash on North Shore

A motorcycle rider was reportedly injured this afternoon in a crash just east of Barker’s Hill on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

A police spokesman said the man was attended to at the scene by emergency medical services personnel.

He was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment of injuries, the extent of which were said to be unknown.

The road was temporarily closed to traffic shortly before 2pm.

In a video posted on social media this afternoon, Inspector Roger Saints urged motorists to use caution on the roads, stating that there had already been two collisions today that have resulted in injuries.

He said: “For those of you planning on going to any functions today like the football matches, please do not carry any weapons or drink and drive.”

Mr Saints added that road sobriety checkpoints will be in place around the island along with stop-and-search checkpoints.
