Roadworks that have slowed traffic on Orange Valley Road in Devonshire are expected to continue until February 1 after facing “weather-related setbacks”.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said that while contactor Surface Experts was originally expected to have completed work on the site by January 19, the project has been challenged by bad weather over the past two weeks.

He added: “As of today, crews remain active on the stretch of Orange Valley Road between Parson’s Lane and Jubilee Road.

“Works will continue in the coming days, with paving along the final stretch from Jubilee Road to Middle Road anticipated to begin by mid-next week.

“Motorists are reminded that access remains restricted to local traffic only. Detour routes should continue to be used where applicable.”

The road closure between Middle Road and Parson’s Lane was introduced this month to accommodate water main replacement and road resurfacing works.
