: Scottish Re Group Limitedannounced yesterday that it had changed its name from Scottish Annuity & Life Holdings Ltd. The change was announced following a shareholder vote approving the new name. In addition, the company's wholly owned subsidiary World-Wide Reassurance Company Limited has changed its name to Scottish Re Limited. The company said it intended to unify its corporate identity under the Scottish Re banner which it said would more accurately reflect the company's mission with emphasis on its life reinsurance business and provide a strong and consistent brand for its operating companies.

Alternative Re Limited, a subsidiary of Arch Capital Group Ltd., announced that Gavin P. Collery was joining the company as president and chief operating officer. Mr. Collery will be based in the company's Bermuda offices. Previously, Mr. Collery spent eight years with Marsh Management Services providing captive, rent-a-captive and alternative risk financing solutions in their Dublin, Ireland and Bermuda offices where he held the position of vice president, client services.

Arch Insurance Group, a division of Arch Capital Group Ltd., this week announced that Robert T. Van Gieson had been named to the position of president and CEO of Arch Capital UK Ltd., Arch's London operation, beginning September 1. Mr. Van Gieson will be based in Arch's London office and will report to Ralph Jones, president and CEO, Arch Insurance Group. Mr. Van Gieson joins Arch with more than 35 years of insurance industry expertise. Prior to Arch, he served as CEO of CNA's Global Operations and senior vice president of CNA Financial. Mr. Van Gieson was also previously chairman and CEO of Chubb Insurance Co. Europe. He began his insurance career at Chubb and held a variety of senior level positions during his tenure with the company.
