Man accused of serious sexual offences

A Warwick man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with sexually assaulting a woman and, in doing so, using a weapon.

The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was also charged with unlawfully committing another sexual act against the woman when he appeared in court today.

The 24-year-old was not required to plea to the offences — which were alleged to have happened in Sandys on March 19 — as the case must be heard before the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the May 4 arraignment session and remanded the man into custody until that time.
