Man charged with trio of offences

A Pembroke man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with assaulting a person with intent to rob.

Ty Lawes, 20, appeared in court today when he was also charged with participating in a fight in public and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

It was alleged that “an accident occurred owing to the driving” of the stolen vehicle.

Mr Lawes was not required to enter any plea to the offences, all of which allegedly happened on March 13, as the case must be heard before the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson remanded Mr Lawes into custody until Wednesday, when a bail application could be heard.
