Motorists injured in Southampton collision

A motorcycle rider and the driver of a car were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision in Southampton last night, police said.

At about 11.18 pm, the Bermuda Police Service received reports of a serious collision involving two motorcars and a motorcycle on Middle Road near the junction with Evans Bay, Southampton.

A spokesman said the rider sustained head injuries and was initially unresponsive while a driver of one of the motor cars was trapped inside the vehicle after its airbag deployed. The nature and extent of his injuries were unknown.

The rider and the injured motorcar driver were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The roadway was closed to traffic while the scene was being processed.
