Near-miss with police car leads to 18-month roads ban

A motorist who almost struck a police car in Southampton has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Demiko James, 30, admitted not taking a breath test when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

The court heard James, 30, almost collided with a police car near Industrial Park Road on December 1.

Officers stopped James near Scaur Lane and noticed an empty bottle of Twisted Tea in his car.

James, from Sandys, declined to take a breath test after the incident.

In addition to the ban, James was fined $1,500 for the offence.
