The Government is offering Bermudians free access to a digital payments workshop and market next month as part of a push to expand public participation in the island’s growing digital finance sector.

A limited number of complimentary tickets will be made available for the Bermuda Digital Finance Forum’s community-focused Digital Payments Workshop and Market on May 14 at Pier 6. The initiative is designed to give residents hands-on experience using digital assets, including stablecoins.

Attendees who complete the workshop will receive $100 in digital assets and be able to spend them at a pop-up market featuring local vendors, live music and entertainment.

David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, said the move reflects the Government’s aim to make digital finance accessible to the wider public.

“Digital finance is the future of finance. We want every resident of this island to have the confidence and knowledge to participate,” Mr Burt said. “That is why we are providing free access and encouraging Bermudians to register.”

The workshop and market form part of the wider Bermuda Digital Finance Forum, which runs from May 11 to 14 at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club and is hosted by Penrose Partners and Salt.

Organisers say the event is intended to bridge global industry discussions with practical, on-the-ground adoption. Sean Stapley, a partner at Penrose Partners, said the forum pairs institutional dialogue with hands-on community engagement to support real-world use of digital finance.

The initiative builds on last year’s forum, where hundreds of residents were onboarded to digital wallets and given stablecoins to spend locally.

It also comes as Bermuda moves forward with plans to position itself as a “fully onchain” economy, integrating digital assets into everyday financial infrastructure. Officials have said that stablecoin-based payments and broader financial literacy programmes will play a key role, though participation will be voluntary.

The Government said the latest event is part of its wider strategy to promote financial inclusion while strengthening Bermuda’s position in the global digital asset industry.
