Bermuda to face World Cup-bound Cape Verde in friendly
The senior national team will face 2026 World Cup qualifiers Cape Verde in Connecticut next month, Bermuda Football Association has announced.
The international friendly will be held at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford on June 6 and will provide the Gombey Warriors with another “significant opportunity” to compete against elite international opposition.
Cape Verde are the third-smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup behind Iceland and fellow 2026 tournament debutants Curaçao.
Maurice Lowe, the BFA technical development director, said the calibre of opposition “reflects the progress our programme continues to make and aligns with our ambitions for the future”.
The senior national team will also play a training match against USL Championship side Rhode Island FC, led by Bermudian general manager and head coach Khano Smith, three days before facing Cape Verde.
Next month’s fixtures are part of Bermuda’s ongoing preparations for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League and other international commitments.
Squad selection and match details will be announced at a later date.
