Rider given 18-month road ban after crash

A motorist involved in a St George’s crash has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Ranjan Gomes, 50, admitted riding a bike while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Gomes landed in grass after losing control of his bike on South Road on September 23.

The St George’s resident was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and questioned by police after the incident.

Gomes was fined $1,500 for the offence in addition to being banned.
