Weeks tours Warwick Camp ahead of RBR training
The Minister of National Security was briefed on the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s readiness ahead of its overseas camp in the UK.
Michael Weeks toured Warwick Camp on Wednesday with Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Lamb, his ministry’s Permanent Secretary, and Lieutenant-Colonel Duncan Simons.
The visit was part of Mr Weeks’s tour of several departments and services under his remit and served as a brief on the RBR’s operational readiness.
The national security minister also learnt about the work of the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard, particularly as boating and hurricane seasons draw near.
Mr Weeks said: “The men and women of the Royal Bermuda Regiment carry responsibilities that matter to the whole island.
“Whether they are supporting national events, responding after a storm, assisting during an emergency, developing young people through training and service or helping to keep our waters safe, their contribution is significant, impactful and valued.
“I want to thank Lt Col Simons and his regiment team for the tour and for the work they continue to do on behalf of Bermuda.”
The Royal Bermuda Regiment leaves today for its two-week camp.
