Equal Justice Initiative launches football scholarship
The Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative (BEJI), in partnership with Trevo Academy, a new Bermuda-based youth football development academy, has announced a sponsorship that will award two fully funded scholarships for young Bermudian boys and girls aged 8 to 13.
The two scholarships are valued at $1,400 in total and covers participation costs for the selected applicants.
Founded to help develop the next generation of Bermudian football talent, Trevo Academy will provide young athletes with an environment that encourages skill development, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and character through four summer cohorts running from June through August.
The sponsorship reflects a shared commitment to supporting Bermudian youth and expanding access to opportunity for young people with talent and potential. Through this partnership, BEJI and Trevo Academy hope to support young Bermudians who are demonstrating leadership, dedication, and a commitment to pursuing their goals despite financial barriers.
The sponsorship also reflects BEJI’s wider commitment to removing barriers, widening access, and ensuring that young people are not denied meaningful opportunities because of financial circumstances.
Eron Hill, Founder and Executive Director of the Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative, said the sponsorship reflects the organisation’s broader commitment to access, opportunity, and community empowerment.
“Too often, talented young people miss out on opportunities simply because of financial circumstances,” said Hill. ‘
“We wanted to partner with Trevo Academy to help ensure that two young Bermudians who are passionate about football have the chance to participate, develop their skills, and enjoy an experience that could positively shape their future.”
Remy Coddington, one of the three founders of Trevo Academy, is grateful for the link-up with BEJI
“As a new academy, we want young athletes to feel encouraged, supported, and motivated to grow both on and off the field,” Coddington said.
“We are grateful to the Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative for partnering with us to help provide opportunities for young Bermudians who are passionate about football and committed to developing their potential.”
