Motorists banned from roads
Two men were disqualified from driving vehicles when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court this week.
Amori Simons, 24, admitted driving an unlicensed and uninsured car while banned from the roads on Monday.
Simons, from Smith’s, was caught driving along Kindley Field Road near the Swing Bridge on May 8 while he was banned from the roads until August.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Simons more than $3,000 for the offences. She ordered him to pay $500 before leaving court and disqualified him from driving on the roads for an additional nine months.
Shane Todd, 50, pleaded guilty to not stopping for police, having no driver’s licence and allowing a pillion passenger to ride without headgear during the same Plea Court session.
Todd committed the offences at the junctions of Middle Road and Keith Hall Road on February 22.
Todd had six existing points on his licence before yesterday’s court appearance.
Ms Sofianos added seven additional points to his licence and banned him from driving all vehicles for nine months.
Ms Sofianos sentenced Todd to time in custody in lieu of paying fines.
