Drink-drivers banned from roads
Two Warwick men have each been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Khalil Burch, 31, and Fabio Soares Cardoso, 36, admitted drink-driving when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard that police stopped Burch on South Road on April 17 after catching him speeding at 61km/h.
Police smelt alcohol on his breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station, where breath tests revealed between 305 and 316 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.
In addition to the ban, Burch was fined $1,500 for drink-driving and $310 for the speeding offence.
The court also heard that police saw Cardoso’s cycle on its side after he lost control along Middle Road on May 9.
Cardoso was injured in the crash and breath tests showed between 155 and almost 157 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood.
Cardoso was also fined $1,500 in addition to the ban.
