New circus act takes to the skies
Locals and visitors can enjoy circus acts and live music at Snorkel Park free of charge throughout June and July.
Cirque Bermuda, created by Bermudian aerialist Kallie Marcus and her former aerial arts teacher Montana DeBor, debuted at the Dockyard beach this week and will be performed there every Monday and Thursday evening through July.
Ms Marcus, founder of Natural Movement Bermuda, and Ms DeBor, of SkyHarmony, have performed together for decades and were both in Super American Circus in 2023 and Circus International in 2024.
Ms Marcus said: “We have been planning this for a year — this was inspired by our passion for the circus, we wanted to make it different for Bermuda and bring something that people don’t usually see on the island.”
The show will feature Ms Marcus, Ms DeBor and Chicago-based acrobat Haley Larson, as well as music from local band Hindsight and DJs.
Ms Marcus explained: “Haley does the Cyr Wheel, Ms DeBor [also] plays the violin for us, we’re trying to mix it up with a combination of aerial and ground acts”.
She added: “I also feel like people think they can only see us at private events, this summer it’s very accessible, so come out and have a good time during the week and check us out.”
The event is set to start at 7pm, Snorkel Park confirmed that admission is free, but a package that includes an open bar is $99.
Cirque Bermuda will be also be performed at Tobacco Bay on selected dates.
