Dockyard attraction bounces back
Three months after announcing its closure, the Bounce Park in Sandys has reopened under new management and a new name.
The Fun Factory opened on October 3 in Dockyard.
“People still don't know that we are open yet, and they are still a bit confused,” said Brianna Ball-Roach, a member of the new management team. “I have even had a few people say to me: ‘my friend mentioned that they were going to a party at the bounce house, but I thought they were lying because I heard they closed down’.”
She said the Fun Factory is still basically the Bounce Park with some added attractions designed to make the venue appeal to a wider range of visitors.
The Fun Factory now includes arcade games and board games and a softplay area for toddlers.
They are also introducing “Factory After Dark” hours for adults that will include anything from bouncing and sip-and-paint sessions to karaoke and workshops.
There will also be regular events for the youngsters such as a Spider-Man day, at no extra charge.
“The Fun Factory really is for the young and the young at heart,” Ms Ball-Roach said.
Outside working hours, Ms Ball-Roach is the cofounder of Beyond Inclusion, a charity that provides engagement opportunities for people with support needs.
Beyond Inclusion has partnered with The Fun Factory to provide employment to people with special needs.
“Inclusive employment does work,” Ms Ball-Roach said. “It is needed and is nothing to be afraid of.”
She also pointed to efforts to make the venue more welcoming by including sensory-friendly hours with adjusted lighting and sound.
“No matter who you are, you should be able to feel safe, show up and enjoy a space that is meant to be fun,” Ms Ball-Roach said.
The Fun Factory has also introduced all-inclusive pricing with a factory pass which gives visitors access to the regular experiences, with an add-on for adults who also want to jump. Children aged two and under are free.
During the school term, the venue operates on weekends, while school breaks bring daily opening hours. Birthday packages have also been upgraded, and events are expected throughout the year.
Together, the changes aim to make the Fun Factory more than a place to bounce: a flexible, family-friendly space where different generations can find their own way to have fun.
