Judge urges burglar to change his lifestyle
A judge has warned Hamilton Parish man Temasgan Furbert to turn his life around ahead of sentencing him for an attempted burglary.
Furbert, 40, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing of attempting to enter a home on Radnor Drive, Hamilton Parish, with others unknown, with intent to steal on New Year’s Day.
He appeared at the Supreme Court yesterday where Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe told him he must change his ways and ditch drugs and drink to avoid repeatedly appearing in court.
Mr Justice Wolffe also warned him to expect a prison sentence when he reappears for sentencing next month.
He said: “You have been struggling with addiction … you must stop.
“Do you want to be 55 or 60 and still in this pattern? You are lucky you are alive right now.
“You should turn it around. If you can come back clean and sober, that would mean a great deal when [it comes to] sentencing.”
Mr Justice Wolffe adjourned the case until July 7 for reports to be reviewed and for two other matters, which Furbert has admitted, to be taken into consideration.
He remanded Furbert in custody, warning: “There’s going to be incarceration.”
