Barnett and Somerville to compete for Bermuda
Benjamin Barnett and Connor Somerville will represent Bermuda at the seventh stop of the 2026 Norceca Beach Volleyball Tour, which takes place in Roatán Island, Honduras, from July 10 to 12.
The team has trained extensively in preparation for the event under the guidance of Head Coach Rick Bevis, with training focused on continuing to develop technical execution tactical awareness, and consistency in competition.
Coach Bevis is in Bermuda under a partnership between the BVA and FIVB, the international federation governing the sport of volleyball globally.
The tournament in Honduras will bring together many of the top beach volleyball teams, including from Canada, the Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, the US Virgin Islands, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, the US and Honduras.
Benjamin Barnett is looking forward to the opportunity to compete on the international stage.
“I am very excited to represent Bermuda in Honduras,” Barnett said.
“This tournament represents a great opportunity for us to compete against high-level opponents and we are excited to put all of our training into practice at this elite level.”
Somerville echoed that excitement as he prepares to take part.
“We’ve been putting in a lot of work during training and I'm looking forward to testing ourselves against some of the best teams in the region,” Somerville said.
“It’s an honour to represent Bermuda, and we're ready to compete.”
